Dee Creek Farm Products
Our Dairy…
All livestock care and operations, from milking, to crafting cheese and packaging, are accomplished on the farm, by the farm family; making it truly a unique artisanal, farmstead product.
After raising dairy animals for many years, we decided to share our passion, and so became licensed to sell our dairy products. We received our Grade A Dairy License in May 2007; Cheesemaking License in February 2008. In addition to the dairy, our farm operates a State Licensed (commercial) Kitchen, which allows us to offer further-processed products.
We employ biodiversity and permaculture concepts and focus on natural, sustainable & humane practices for our grass-based, chemical-free farm. We are blessed that our farm pastures have had NO pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers applied for over 40 years!
In the flavoring and enhancing of our cheese, we are committed to mostly use herbs, fruits and vegetables that have been locally grown/produced, and from our own farm, whenever possible!
Our “Girls”…
The goats we milk are Nubians, mini-Nubians, & Nigerian Dwarfs, all of which are high in butterfat making wonderful, rich milk; perfect for making cheese! We milk twice daily. We anticipate milking 60 does this Summer.
We manage our livestock holistically, using herbs whenever possible. During milking, the does are fed minimal dairy concentrates, mostly oats & barley, with the addition of Black Oil Sunflower Seeds.
Our does browse our 21-acres and the surrounding forest land. Their diet consists of quality grasses, including: alfalfa hay, silage and pellets. They have free choice kelp, minerals, sulfur, baking soda and plenty of water, with periodic additions of raw apple cider vinegar and whey. They are supplemented with Copper and Selenium.
What Our Customers Are Saying...
“...Dee Creek Farm cheese. These goats are free ranging, pasture munching beauties, raised better than any commercial organic standards. This cheese, from baby goat to aging, is all done right at the farm by Spark Puckett, the incredibly talented cheese maker. Blessed are the cheese makers, I say!” ~ S.M.
“...I love DCF cheese, I sit down and can eat the whole wedge in one setting. Portion control with their cheese.... no such thing.” - Tiffany R.
